Seymour City Council: Seymour council approves $90,000 for park concession staffing and new Brown Street parking ban

Seymour City Council: The Seymour City Council approved three measures on second reading March 23: a no-parking restriction on Brown Street between South Walnut and South Pine streets; additional Parks Department funding for concession operations; and a $90,000 addition to the Parks Department temporary-labor salary line. The concessions are moving in-house this year, with the added money intended for part-time workers and products. Each measure passed 6-0-1. The council also advanced an ordinance restricting commercial use of public records, approving it on first reading by the same 6-0-1 vote; city officials said it would target bulk requests for data resale or information beyond standard public reporting, with questionable requests referred to the city attorney. Residents and businesses affected by the Brown Street change should expect the new no-parking rule to apply from South Walnut Street to South Pine Street. The city also announced a tire amnesty event for passenger-car and light-truck tires from 8 a.m. to noon on April 4, 2026; racing tires will not be accepted.
